Dear Students, Postdocs, Staff, and Faculty,

As you know, August 28 is approaching, marking one year since we lost our colleague, Professor Zijie Yan. This will be a day filled with mixed emotions for many of us. Some may wish to be alone, others might prefer to carry on with their usual routines, and some may want to gather and share a moment of reflection. There is no right or wrong way to approach this day.

For those who are interested in sharing their grief, the APS Department will be hosting a small gathering to honor Zijie.  Though there is limited in-person attendance, they have kindly invited members of the Chemistry Department to attend as a webinar through Zoom. Please note that since this meeting is formatted as a webinar, participants will be able to view and listen but will not have contributing microphone and video.

At 12:45 PM, Prof. Dingemans will welcome everyone, after which our senior leadership will say a few words. We will then observe a minute of silence. Following this, the APS Department will open the floor to their who wishes to share their thoughts, memories, or anecdotes about Zijie. The atmosphere will be kept informal to allow for personal expression.
